My name is Kristie Miller. I show and breed Shih Tzu. Much like the Chinese who cherished their shih tzu as prized house pets, my shih tzu are also cherished and spoiled here in our home. I am a member of the American Shih Tzu Club and was awarded the Breeder of Merit by the AKC. AKC has also awarded us with the Bred With Heart status. I am joined in the passion for shih tzu by my husband Rocky. My first show dog was Twister, CH Ultra’s Whirl Wind Fantasy, bred by Eileen Nicholas of Ultra Shih Tzu. It was a whirl wind fantasy for sure. Twister finished his AKC championship at the age of 13 months. My second show dog was Myah, CH Ultra’s Playin’ By My Intuition, R.O.M. also bred by Eileen Nicholas. Myah has produced 5 American Champions and 1 Canadian Champion to Date, making her the Top producing bitch for the American Shih Tzu Club in 2010. This was the result of the union between Myah and Twister and the union between Myah and Luca, CH Symarun’s Look N’ Good.
The goal for breeding is always to produce offspring for the betterment of the breed. We always breed to the American Shih Tzu Club standard with health and temperament being at the top of the list.
My passion for showing started in cattle with my husband many years ago. I didn’t get to show my first dog until I was 47. I had always wanted to show beautiful Shih Tzu dogs and was thrilled to get to complete my dream. After teaching for 30 years, I retired and returned to teaching part time to allow more time with my dogs.
My passion for the Shih Tzu breed runs deep. All litters are carefully planned with other top breeders in the fancy to produce shih tzu that match the standard set by the American Shih Tzu Club.
I have to admit, I love a pretty face. So all of my breedings are centered around developing a beautiful head piece with the big, black, round eyes and a warm sweet expression. Of course they must also have a beautiful long flowing double coat and tea cup tail set.
